Welcome to Fakenham Bowmen!

Hopefully this will provide you with some useful background information about archery and how the club is run.

As a Committee, we hope that all members are able to get what they want out of the sport – from relaxation to competition. We attempt to run the club so that it is open and there are opportunities for all members to get involved. If at any time you have any questions, queries or ideas, please don’t hesitate to talk to any of the committee.

A gentle reminder upfront - we do ask that all club members remember that a lot of time and energy is given to the running of the club, and not just by those holding the committee posts. Without this commitment behind the scenes we wouldn’t have such a successful club or have the facilities we do.

We do produce quarterly newsletters to keep all club members informed of activities, shoots, events and good performances. We also use email to circulate information between the newsletters. All this information can also be found on the club notice board in the Sports Centre.

The handbook also contains a checklist of ‘core competencies’ which we have developed to help club members develop the core knowledge needed to improve your archery. This handbook can’t provide the answers – you will need to ask, refer to books / magazines, use the internet… More experienced club members can point you in the right direction. Hopefully it provides some structure to your development as an archer and helps you know what you need to know!!

We do think that we have the best archery facilities in Norfolk, and hope that all members enjoy the practice of archery with Fakenham Bowmen.

Good Shooting!
